Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 09 October 2026

These Terms & Conditions explain the arrangements for counselling offered through So How’s It Going? and participation in Marriage in Practice. Counselling-specific terms apply to the counselling service; the Marriage in Practice section applies to the course and its associated features. Please read the relevant terms before using either service.

So How’s It Going? is operated by Armaan Ahmed, a Level 4 trainee counsellor and Student Member of BACP.

Counselling is currently provided by Armaan through iCounselling as part of his supervised clinical placement.

If you have any questions about these terms, please contact:

hello@sohowsitgoing.com

About the counselling service

So How’s It Going? offers affordable counselling for individuals and couples.

Armaan works integratively, with a predominantly person-centred approach, and may draw upon psychodynamic and other therapeutic approaches where appropriate.

Counselling provides a confidential space in which you can explore your experiences, thoughts, feelings, relationships and difficulties. It is a collaborative process and does not guarantee a particular outcome.

Counselling is not a substitute for emergency, crisis or medical services.

Trainee counsellor status

Armaan is currently completing Level 4 professional counsellor training and undertaking supervised client practice through iCounselling.

He is a Student Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works in accordance with the professional and ethical requirements applicable to his training and placement.

By proceeding with counselling, you acknowledge that your counsellor is currently practising as a trainee counsellor under professional clinical supervision.

Enquiries and pre-assessment

Submitting an enquiry through this website does not create a counselling relationship or guarantee that counselling will be offered.

Before counselling begins, you will be asked to complete a pre-assessment through the appropriate iCounselling process.

The purpose of the assessment is to understand what you are seeking support with, consider any relevant risks or circumstances and determine whether the service is appropriate for you.

iCounselling’s assessment process includes questions concerning presenting difficulties, previous counselling, relevant medical and family history and potential risks to yourself or others.

There may be circumstances where another service or practitioner would be more appropriate for your needs. Where this is identified, this will be discussed with you where appropriate.

Sessions and fees

Counselling sessions are normally 50 minutes.

The current fee is:

£25 per 50-minute session

This fee currently applies whether sessions take place face to face or online.

It is used as for admin purposes, such as supervision, BACP membership etc.

Payment can be made by bank transfer or PayPal and should be made before the scheduled session unless otherwise agreed. Payment details will be provided before counselling begins.

Any change to the fee will be communicated in advance and will not be applied retrospectively to sessions that have already taken place.

Face-to-face and online counselling

Counselling is available face to face in and around Milton Keynes and online Face-to-face sessions are generally available within approximately 20 miles of Milton Keynes, subject to location and practical arrangements.

The location and format of sessions will be agreed before counselling begins. Availability for face-to-face sessions may depend on location and practical arrangements.

Face-to-face sessions

Where counselling takes place face to face, the location will be agreed in advance.

If circumstances mean that a planned face-to-face session cannot reasonably take place, we may discuss whether it is appropriate to rearrange the session or, where suitable, hold the session online instead.

Online sessions

Online counselling sessions are normally provided through Zoom or Google Meet.

When attending online, you are responsible for finding a suitable private space in which you feel able to speak freely and are unlikely to be overheard or interrupted. The use of headphones is recommended where this helps protect your privacy.

You are also responsible for having a suitable device and sufficiently reliable internet connection for the session.

If technical difficulties substantially interfere with a session, we will discuss what is appropriate in the circumstances.

Cancellations and missed sessions

We understand that there may be occasions when you need to cancel or rearrange a session.

In accordance with the current iCounselling placement arrangements, at least 48 hours notice should be given when cancelling a counselling session.

Where less than 48 hours notice is provided, the full session fee may still be payable.

For face-to-face sessions, please take particular care to provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange, as travel and other arrangements may have been made in advance.

Repeated missed sessions can affect the counselling arrangement. Under iCounselling’s current terms, two sessions missed without notice may result in your regular counselling slot being withdrawn.

Where exceptional circumstances arise, these can be discussed where appropriate.

Confidentiality

Counselling is confidential, but confidentiality is not absolute.

Information you discuss during counselling will ordinarily remain private. However, there are circumstances in which information may need to be discussed or disclosed, including:

  • as part of professional clinical supervision
  • where there is a serious concern about harm to you or another person
  • where safeguarding responsibilities apply
  • where disclosure is required or authorised by law

Where reasonably possible and appropriate, we will aim to discuss a potential disclosure with you before information is shared.

Further information about how personal information is handled can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Professional supervision

As a trainee counsellor, Armaan attends regular professional clinical supervision.

Supervision is an important part of safe and ethical counselling practice. It provides an opportunity to reflect on client work and support the quality of the counselling being provided.

Relevant aspects of counselling work may therefore be discussed within supervision. Information will be limited or anonymised wherever practicable to protect client privacy.

Records

Brief records relating to counselling may be maintained where appropriate for the safe and professional provision of the service.

Counselling and assessment records handled through iCounselling are subject to iCounselling’s applicable privacy, security and record-keeping arrangements. Its current terms state that brief session notes are stored securely.

Information submitted through the So How’s It Going? website is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Communication outside sessions

Email and the website enquiry form are intended primarily for practical matters such as enquiries, availability and session arrangements.

They should not be relied upon for urgent therapeutic support or emergencies.

Please avoid sending detailed sensitive, medical or clinical information through the general website enquiry form.

Emergencies and urgent support

So How’s It Going? is not an emergency or crisis service.

Messages and enquiries may not be seen immediately and should not be used where urgent help is required.

If you or somebody else is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency services.

If you require urgent mental-health support, please use an appropriate NHS, crisis or emergency service rather than waiting for a response from your counsellor.

Safeguarding

We take safeguarding concerns seriously.

Where information suggests that you or another person may be at risk of significant harm, appropriate steps may need to be taken in accordance with professional, ethical, safeguarding and legal responsibilities.

Depending on the circumstances, this could include discussing concerns with clinical supervision, iCounselling or an appropriate safeguarding, healthcare or emergency service.

Where reasonably possible and safe to do so, we will aim to discuss these steps with you.

Ending counselling

Counselling does not have to continue indefinitely.

You are free to decide that you wish to end counselling. Where possible, it can be helpful to discuss ending counselling with your counsellor so that the work can be brought to an appropriate conclusion.

The counsellor may also need to recommend ending, pausing or referring counselling where continuing would no longer be appropriate, safe, within the counsellor’s competence or consistent with placement requirements.

Where possible, this will be discussed with you.

Professional and ethical standards

Armaan’s counselling work is undertaken within his training and placement arrangements and with regular professional supervision.

Armaan works in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and the professional and ethical requirements applicable to his training and placement.

Complaints

We hope that any concerns about the counselling service can be discussed openly where appropriate.

Because counselling is currently undertaken through iCounselling as part of Armaan’s placement, complaints concerning the clinical counselling service may also fall within iCounselling’s complaints procedure.

iCounselling allows concerns to be raised with the counsellor or with its clinical service and has a formal process for written complaints. Its current policy aims to acknowledge written complaints within 10 working days and provide a full response within 15 working days.

Further information is available on our Complaints page.

Privacy and data protection

Personal information is handled in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected through So How’s It Going?, why it is used, how long it may be retained and your data-protection rights.

Information collected separately through iCounselling as part of assessment or counselling is also subject to iCounselling’s applicable privacy and data-protection arrangements.

Marriage in Practice

Marriage in Practice is an educational relationship course operated by Armaan Ahmed, intended for adults preparing for marriage or already married.

The course provides lessons, reflection exercises, discussions and practice scenarios. Participation does not create a counselling relationship, and the course is separate from Armaan’s supervised counselling placement through iCounselling. It does not provide therapy, diagnosis, legal advice or emergency support.

Participation and personal decisions

Participation in exercises is voluntary. You may pause or skip an activity and should respect your partner’s privacy, boundaries and choice about what to share.

Course examples and suggested agreements are learning tools rather than instructions you must follow. Any arrangements you make together should be freely agreed. The course does not guarantee compatibility, reconciliation or any particular relationship outcome.

AI-assisted features

Optional AI features may support reflections, compare answers and provide practice conversations or roleplays. AI responses can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your circumstances. Use your own judgement and seek appropriate professional advice where needed.

AI responses are generated automatically and should not be assumed to have been reviewed by Armaan or a qualified professional. AI conversations are not counselling sessions and do not carry the same confidentiality arrangements as counselling.

Where a feature uses ChatGPT or another external platform, that provider’s terms, privacy policy and account requirements also apply. External providers may impose charges or usage limits, which are separate from any course fee. Further information about personal information and AI features is provided in our Privacy Policy.

Course materials and access

Course materials are provided for your personal learning and use with your partner. Unless permission is given, you must not redistribute, resell or publicly upload course materials.

Any applicable price, access period, included features and technical requirements will be explained before you enrol or purchase access. AI availability may depend on the external provider and your account.

Questions and complaints

For questions or complaints about Marriage in Practice, contact hello@sohowsitgoing.com. Course complaints should be directed to Armaan rather than iCounselling’s clinical complaints procedure.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Changes to these Terms & Conditions

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to the counselling service, placement arrangements, fees, professional requirements or applicable law and guidance.

The date at the top of this page will show when the terms were most recently updated.

Material changes affecting an existing counselling arrangement will be communicated where appropriate.
